March 17th was the most epic day of powder riding of the winter season, we awoke to over twenty inches of fresh powder and as the lifts started spinning the dense cloud cover magically parted and the day was glorious blue bird conditions. It was truly Eddie's day. As the day came to a close we all went to work with unbelievable grins on our faces, knowing that the man had been with each of us on this glorious day, many a tea cup was raised to thank our Hawaiian brothers and sisters for all that they have given us. Surfrider Foundation Beach Clean Up - Dec. 11, 2010

The Surfrider Foundation Oahu Chapter will host a cleanup on the North Shore at Sunset Beach on Sat., 12/11/10, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Surfrider is partnering with Scott Sandals, Airwalk Shoes and pro surfer and model Anastasia Ashley to remove trash from Sunset Beach to Pipeline. Scott Hawaii will be donating some of its products to volunteers and sponsoring lunch. Airwalk will give away t-shirts and shoes to the first 30 volunteers at the end of the cleanup. Volunteers are invited to bring reusable water bottles and recycle old plastic bags to pick up trash. Surfrider’s Oahu chapter will be selling their new reusable canteens, tote bags and T-shirts, which make great Christmas gifts.

The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and preservation of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers, the Surfrider Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary and now maintains over 50,000 members and 70 chapters across the United States. The Oahu Chapter is in its 14th year of activism and has been working on issues of beach access, water quality, coastal preservation and plastic marine debris. Stand Up Paddle Feature Film - Waialua Community Center - Dec. 12, 2010

Haleiwa, Hawaii, December 6, 2010 – The Hawaii Premiere of the first standup paddle film Destination 3 Degrees makes its Oahu Premiere on December 12th at the Waialua Community Center in Haleiwa. Starring elite paddlers Morgan Hoesterey and Jenny Kalmbach who decide that to bring awareness to the plastic that is starting to liter the Hawaiian Islands they will challenge themselves to paddle the entire chain of Hawaiian Islands. This challenge turns into 300 Miles, 3 degrees of latitude, and the adventure of a lifetime. Directed and produced by Chris Aguilar who will be in attendance at the event, will make this a great evening to celebrate an amazing adventure.

Tickets are $10 each and available at the door and door open at 6:30 pm with the program starting at 7 pm. Waterman Titus Kinimaka will be shaping a standup paddle board and donating it to a raffle along with other items taking place this evening. Snacks will be available for purchase by North Shore’s Universal Juice.

Just want to give you a big mahalo and congratulations for keeping the spirit of surfing alive and well Hawaiian style. I have never watched the Triple Crown or other events, but this today was spellbinding. All of the people involved, from the announcer Martin Potter, George Downing, the Quiksilver staff and all who made this event so memorable, oh yes, and the surfers! were such a testimony to the spirit of Eddie Aikau and your family. Thank you for helping me to enjoy and respect this sport without all the hype and mainland style attitude. The coverage was absolutely awesome and mother nature did her part.
